But you should know the key people behind the business too, and the skills and experience they bring. Whilst we are multi-disciplinary and come from a range of varied but complementary fields, we have one thing in common...we are all passionate about retail and the retail recruitment and advertising market.

Nick Waller - Managing Director

Nick has over 25 years’ experience in retail recruitment, digital media and publishing. Most notably he launched retail recruitment magazine The Appointment plus two of the UK’s leading internet job boards. More recently he was Sales Director for online retail phenomenon UK Flooring Direct, ranked by The Sunday Times as the third fastest growing retailer in the UK.
As Managing Director of, Nick combines his extensive online and digital media experience with a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the ever-changing retail recruitment market.


Karen Howard - Director

Karen Howard has over 20 years of sales and marketing experience. She began her career selling advertising for local papers in Surrey and worked quickly to senior management to run teams for many of the major b2b publishers in the UK and north America (including RBI / Trinity Mirror / DMT / Emap).

Her specialty is creating blue chip networking events and facilitating introductions for successful business partnerships. She joined The Retail Bulletin as a partner in 2010 where she is responsible for building the events business and is currently working with some of the largest world wide suppliers to retail.

Ian Sprange - Director

Ian Sprange has been involved in the retail sector for over 30 years. His tenure at Emap saw him serve progressively to business management responsible for the retail portfolio P&L. He joined The Retail Bulletin as a Director in 2003 where he was responsible for building the publishing business.
Accolades to note: launching and building The Multichannel Retailer online news service and creating the People In Retail Awards, which was the first event of its kind to celebrate the innovation and success of retailers.
